Five Minutes With... Frederique Morrel
What’s your morning routine?
A full coffeepot, in my bed, listening the news on my old grandmother's radio from 1970.
Do you have any weird and wonderful superstitions?
I don't really have any superstitions but I do take the things I see in the garbage on my way as "signs".
Where’s your favourite place to relax and chill out?
My bed with messy books and pictures all around me.
How old were you when you knew you were going to be an artist?
Before I was born!
What are your three tips for living a happy life?
To be quiet, kind, and cute!
Who inspires you most in life?
My own past and future life on top of the story of the universe: my favorte movie is 2001 A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick.
What’s the last book you read?
Step By Step: La Montagne Magique by Thomas Mann. I'm not quite finished yet!
What sort of environment do you like to work in? What’s your studio like if we were to walk in right now?
It's a very big mess! You must walk in zig-zags around the studio!
Which artwork of yours means the most to you and why?
The first I showed with tapestry "Pyramide de Poufs", because it's my concept of life: fun, work and death. It's that simple.
And last but not least, do you think we do enough to introduce new generations to art?
Just do it as we can!
