Gallery girl goes to Daphne's
Ladies (and gentlemen) that lunch in Chelsea can now dine with their doggies at the á la mode Daphne’s Restaurant in South Kensington; my fabulous four-legged friend’s Oscar, Juicy and I poodled on down to the Tuesday preview to check it out.
A hotspot for London’s foodies and fashionistas, an exciting collaboration with coveted British Designer Lulu Guinness marked the epoch-making occasion with a series of limited edition dog bowls; the lady herself was in attendance, along with some of London’s prettiest pooches (and their human counterparts, of course).
On arrival we had time to admire the delicately hand-painted and hand-fired ceramic dog bowls. Each features Lulu’s own pretty pooch Daphne, against a soft teal backdrop mirroring the restaurants brand colours, alongside the central motif –the distinctive Dali-esque red lips for which the designer is renowned. The delicious doggie dinner bowls exist as a limited edition series and are available exclusively at Daphne’s restaurant and via the Lulu Guinness website.
Lulu adds, ‘I have been asked in the past by customers to design accessories for dogs and was thrilled when Daphne’s approached me about this idea! The bowl is inspired by a powder compact (I collect them) which reminds me of my darling dog, Daphne!’
Next, we were navigated past the Code of Conduct (which each precious pooch will be expected to adhere to – including rules such as “007 dogs must sit under the tables so that they can spy on their humans’ legs at all times” and “dogs must be charming to Gabi, the general manager”, you can find the full list here), ending the evening in the conservatory (the newly designated doggie area) with a selection of Daphne's tasty treats.
Launching officially on 1st July, Daphne’s doggie dinners will be available between 12pm to 6pm daily (with last lunch orders at 5.15pm), Oscar, Juicy and I look forward to seeing you there!
