As a female-founded business, we’re all for celebrating the achievements of women and championing and encouraging future generations. That’s why we’ll be planning our daily walk around WOM Collective’s live mural painting in Brixton this weekend.
Ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March, the platform dedicated to nurturing and championing female street artists will be taking over Brixton with a collective exhibition at Brixton Village Courtyard. Running from today until 12 April, WOM-INSPIRED will bring together 30 artworks by 30 female artists, each one celebrating the female energy that inspires them – this could be an iconic figure or anything that inspires them as women.
Bringing some much-needed colour and excitement to our daily walks this weekend, the five-week art residence will kick off with a live mural painting collaboration with WOM Collective founders Carleen de Sozer, Elno and Lours, alongside artists DMT, Layla Cope and Van Jimmer. Join them (and us) at 10 Somerleyton Road between 12pm and 7pm today and tomorrow.
For many of WOM’s London-based female artists, street art has had a profound and transformational impact, increasing their confidence and helping them to build strong networks and new career pathways.
The Collective creates a space for artists to exhibit and sell their artwork, ensuring 100% of sales go to the artists, and this exhibition is no different. Visitors will be able to buy their work directly using a QR code that will redirect them to each artist’s website or online shop.
The exhibition will be also shared online at www.womcollective.org.
