It doesn’t take much for us to go ape about contemporary British artist Dave White. We’ve long been fans of his appreciation of the animal world, especially his works that shine a light on endangered species. Nobody brings animals to life in such rich brushstrokes quite like Dave. That’s why we’re so excited to reveal his newest works to you.
In his latest series, ‘Devotion’, White turns his attention to the relationships between animals, evolving his extensive portfolio and study of primates.
White comments: “I have always explored the incredible power of eye contact in the species that I depict. That moment when it feels that the subject is looking deep into your soul and an incredible bond is formed, which transcends time for the moment that it is held. A perfect reflection of our own thoughts and feelings can be deeply felt. This is the sentiment behind this work, whether with the viewer or the dynamic between the subjects being portrayed.”
He has chosen charcoal and mixed media to capture these most intimate moments and the unique character of his subjects.
