Alistair Canvin

Alistair Canvin (b. 1987) is a British multidisciplinary artist exploring the polarity of emotion through hyper-real figurative works.Social constructs guide a curious creative direction balancing our fragile relationships with people, places, and things. Familiar textures and shapes recall shared memory and experience all with a sinister twist. With subversion at the heart of his practice, Canvin disrupts these photorealistic renderings with chaos; a disfiguring strike, or the slow decay of time. A process born of conflict and in search of truth.

Canvin attended the Chelsea School of Art and graduated from the London College of Communication in 2009. Moving to Bristol in 2014, he began work as an artist assistant, utilizing his diverse skill set as a painter, sculptor, and model maker.

Alistair Canvin is featured in 'LOVE /lʌv/' a group exhibition curated by Dynamisk for Loughran Gallery at Kiklo Spaces.
